Palasyo ni Valentin won the 1st prize in the 1998 Philippine Centennial Commission Publication’s Committee’s Centennial Literary Composition (Sarsuela Division).
Back in 1896, Palacio was full of life brought by staging of zarzuelas. Valentin played the piano in the orchestra, and Diding, his love, was the singer made famous by the Spanish director, Senior Alfonso. Because of anger and jealousy, Senior Alfonso imprisoned Valentin. Vaudeville was the trend when Valentin was released. He settled at Palacio until films became the new trend.
