influential British bands of the 1980s, Spandau Ballet, will bring their
‘Soulboys of the Western World Live’ Concert to Manila for one night
only on 21 September 2015 at Mall of Asia Arena.
Spandau Ballet, Tony Hadley, John Keeble, Gary Kemp, Martin Kemp and
Steve Norman will come together to perform their smash-hit anthems for
Philippine audiences for the first time.

The City of Koronadal, in
cooperation with the Cultural Center of the Philippines, the Department
of Tourism and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, holds
its first ever Koronadal International Folklore Festival dubbed as
"Pyesta Kolon Datal" on August 9-18, 2015 featuring twelve participating
countries and four Philippine cultural groups. The event was discussed
by Koronadal City mayor Peter B. Miguel in a recent press conference
held at the CCP.

back another theater favorite and classic, Noli at Fili Dekada Dos Mil
in September at the PETA Theater Center.
A modern retelling of Rizal's masterpieces written by acclaimed
writer and academic, Nicanor Tiongson, Noli at Fili Dekada Dos Mil
brilliantly captures the revolutionary philosophies of Rizal's two
greatest novels, Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo. Together with
the visual prowess of theater stalwart, Soxie Topacio, audience members
are promised a powerful and moving theater piece.
Cultural Center of the
Philippines, The National Music Competitions for Young Artists (NAMCYA)
Foundation, Inc. and the The National Commission for Culture and the
Arts (NCCA) present "Virtuosi: Tugtog Pagtataguyod para sa NAMCYA"
happening this July 31, 2015.
This special event marks NAMCYA forty-second (42nd) year of existence

Balagtas’ “Florante at Laura ” -- one of the most enduring Filipino
literary masterpieces described by many as a poetic art that examines

play by award-winning and respected playwright Boni Ilagan, with
multi-awarded actor, Roeder Camañag as its director.
Eleven individuals and two
organizations will receive the Gawad CCP Para sa Sining for their
outstanding achievements and contributions to Philippine arts and
culture on September 17, 2015, 7:00pm at the Cultural Center of the
Philippines Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo (Main Theater).
The Gawad CCP Para sa Sining is the highest award given by the CCP.
The award will be conferred on Denisa Reyes for Dance; Fides Cuyugan
Asensio for Music; Antonio Mabesa for Theater; Roberto Chabet for Visual
Arts; Ricardo Lee for Literature; Nora Villamayor a.k.a. Nora Aunor for
Film and Broadcast Arts; Paulo Alcazaren for Architecture; Ben Farrales
for Design; Leoncio Deriada, Talaandig School of Living Traditions,
Armida Siguion-Reyna, and Basilio Esteban Villaruz. The Missionary
Society of St. Columban will receive the Tanging Parangal.
For one night only, enjoy the best-loved songs from the world’s greatest West End and Broadway musicals in a glittering Concert.
Starring past principal performers from Les Misérables in the West
End and on tour, the blockbusting two-hour show features hit songs The
Phantom of the Opera, Jersey Boys, Evita, Wicked, Miss Saigon, West Side
Story, Mamma Mia and many others, climaxing with a spectacular finale
from, of course, Les Misérables.
NANTA is a comic musical
non-verbal performance derived from the traditional Korean instrumental
performance “Samulnori.” The kitchen is its backdrop, chefs its main
characters. Knives and other kitchen utensils are transformed into
musical instruments in the hands of the performers.
They thrill the audience with acrobatic cooking shows, a surprise
wedding ceremony, and an exciting dumpling challenge. The highlight of
the show is a “Water Drum Sequence” where drummers beat 5 standing
kitchenware drums with water and LED lights on them and this climax
leaves the audience wondering whether it’s the drums or their heart
beating.

presents the fourth performance of Harana sa Dapit Hapon on July 8, 2015 at the Bulwagang Nicanor Abelardo (CCP Main Theater Lobby) at 4:30pm.
Miguel Castro is one of the featured performing artists in the event. Harana sa Dapit Hapon is an afternoon musicale
featuring immortal kundimans, harana, balitaw, danza and unforgettable
love songs by great Filipino composers. Noted classical singers and
performers have been invited.
Succeeding shows of the said event will be held on September 9, October 7, and December 9 this year.
