Gantimpala
Theater embarks on an ambitious undertaking as it gives life to Dr.
Jose Rizal’s Noli Me Tangere, through its stage version of “Kanser,”
written by playwright Jomar Fleras and directed by Roobak Valle.
Kanser, the play, draws attention to the most iconic characters of
the Noli Me Tangere that were used by Dr. Rizal to expose the various
ill elements of the Philippine colonial society
Back on the Gantimpala stage are senior artists, acting as some of the major characters from the Noli, they are Joe Gruta as Pilosopong Tasyo, Dante Balois as Kapitan Tiago, Ku Aquino as Padre Damaso, Hope Matriano and Doreen Bernal as Doña Victorina and Kathy Arguelles as Doña Consolacion and Jojo Riguerra and Patrick Patawaran as Padre Salvi.
Lending a hand to director/choreographer Valle in bringing San Diego to existence are Ian Bautista as Light Designer, Joey de Guzman as Set Designer, original music created by Rodel Lorenzo, Tony Maigue and Jesse Lucas, production manager is Charyl de Guzman, stage manager is Christopher David. The new Artistic Director of Gantimpala Theater is Joel Lamangan.
Performances are on August 30 & 31, (9am/12nn/3pm),at the AFP Theater, Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City; September 6 & 7, (9am/12nn/3pm) at the Star Theater, Star City, Pasay City and September 12 & 13, (11am/2pm), at Cinema 3, SM Southmall, Las Piñas City.
The National Parks Development Committee (NPDC), Skin Sanctuary, Everbilena and ACES and PROS fully support Gantimpala Theater’s Kanser.
