OYAYI Healing Through Music - A Series Workshops and Dialogues

 
Studies have proven that music is a natural healer. It has the power to enhance emotional, cognitive and physical wellness. People have likewise used music to improve self-esteem and promote personal growth and development.
From April 30 to May 2, 2013, the public has the opportunity to explore the possibilities of music and voice therapy through OYAYI, a series of workshops and dialogues. Stephan Kuehne, a music therapist and educator from Germany, will be leading workshop participants through the morning experiential sessions from 8:30-11:30 on Music Therapy for Children (Day 1), Indigenous Music and Healing (Day 2), and Voice Therapy for Adults (Day 3).

Special guest facilitators will spearhead the afternoon dialogue-workshop sessions from 1:30-4:30. Marisa Marin, the leading music therapist in the country and the president of the Philippine Association for Child and Play Therapy, will be holding the workshop-dialogue on Music Therapy for Children on the first day.

Popular singer-songwriter Joey Ayala and Leo Castro of Sanghabi will be facilitating the afternoon activities on Indigenous Music and Healing on Day 2.

And finally, on the third day, long-time theater artists/singers/voice teachers Lionel and Cynthia Guico will be leading workshoppers through Voice Therapy for Adults.

Online registration is ongoing at www.consciousheartcreations.com/oyayi. Rates are at Php 6,000 (for 3 days), Php 2,500 (for one day), and Php 1,000 (for one afternoon session). Group discounts are available for 3 or more participants. Those who will attend are required to bring their own musical instruments, preferably indigenous or non-electronic.
