The Full Monty - Broadway Musical @ RCBC Plaza, Makati

Viva Atlantis Theatricals opens its first ever season with the much applauded and well-loved musical, "The Fully Monty". Based on the hit movie of the same title, the musical has a book by the multi-awarded Terrence Mc Nally with music and lyrics by David Yazbek.

The musical takes place in Buffalo, New York where six unemployed mill workers come up with a radical idea for making some quick cash ? presenting a strip act at a local club. On the journey to their ‘full monty’ the six find that they are more than their jobs, conquer their fears, slay their inner demons and discover the liberating power of true friendship. The six ‘losers’ find in a shimmering moment that they can be ‘winners’ and they have us laughing with them and cheering for them to the very end.

Dance Xchange 2013: The International Dance Workshop and Festival

The NCCA-National Committee on Dance under the leadership of Shirley Halili-Cruz, in partnership with the Province of Palawan, holds  Dance Xchange 2013: The International Dance Workshop and Festival. This event is the Philippine celebration of the International Dance Day and in accordance with Presidential Proclamation No. 154, declaring the last week of April as the "National Dance Week". Dance Xchange will be held on April 11-14, 2013 at Puerto Princesa, Palawan.

ArtistVenture in conjunction with International Artist Ensemble proudly presents ¡PIAZZOLLA! Not only tango, featuring artists from Russia, Armenia, Singapore, Bulgaria and the Philippines.

The Comedy Cartel at the Strumm's Jupiter St. Makati

Mobile Theater Foundation Presents Martir sa Golgota

The Mobile Theater Foundation (formerly Tanghalang Sta. Ana) will stage a pre-Lenten production entitled “Martir sa Golgota”, a senakulo play based on the life and passion of Jesus Christ.

Directed by Lou Veloso, “Martir sa Golgota” features around 70 actors, mostly volunteer residents of Sta. Ana and invited TV, movie and stage personalities like Gian Magdangal, Migui Moreno, Bodjie Pascua, and Archie Adamos, among other performers. Mobile Theater Foundation’s predecessor, Tanghalang Sta. Ana, was born in September 1989.

Korean Embassy Now Accepts Applications for 2013 Global Korea Scholarship for Graduate Programs

The Korean Embassy in Manila is pleased to announce that it is now accepting applications for the 2013 Korean Government Scholarship Program for graduate and post-graduate students. 
The scholarship program will provide 345 students from 60 countries with an opportunity to conduct advanced studies at higher educational institutions in Korea to promote international exchanges in education and mutual friendship between countries.

Conductor Laurente Maestro Oscar C. Yatco leads the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra in a homecoming concert on March 6, 2013 at CCP. Tanghalang Aurelio Tolentino (Little Theater).
To celebrate the 200 years of Richard Wagner and Giuseppe Verdi, the PPO will perform I Vespri siciliani Overture by Verdi and the Tannhauser Overture by Wagner. The program also includes the Symphony No. 6 Op. 74 in B minor (“Pathetique”) of Peter Tchaikovsky.

Antonio M. Abad's El Campeon - An Unpublished Novel

El campeón”, an unpublished novel of Filipino writer Antonio M. Abad, is set to make its debut in the Ateneo de Manila University at 4:30pm. This novel will be the third instalment in the collection Clásicos Hispanofilipinos, an initiative by Instituto Cervantes to preserve the works of Filipino authors written in Spanish.

Philippine Madrigal Singers - Mindanao Tour

Goin for the Gold: The 50th Anniversary Outreach Concert Tour of the world renowned Philippine Madrigal Singers goes to Mindanao from February 28 to March 7, 2013.
The Mindanao tour is the second leg of the National Tour organized by the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) Cultural Exchange Department (CED).

The MADZ performed recently in Dumaguete, Bacolod, Roxas and Iloilo. As part of their tour, they held workshops and sang with hundreds of local singers in grand chorale performances which were very well-received.

“The Garden" - Open Air Exhibit by Denis Lagdameo and Olivia d’Aboville

Bonifacio Global City (BGC) Offsite Gallery has been transformed into a whimsical garden as Bonifacio Art Foundation Inc. unveiled its third open-air exhibit called, “The Garden” by Denis Lagdameo and Olivia d’Aboville.
Inspired by wild flora, “The Garden” features a variety of plant and flower-looking pieces made of recyclable materials that come in different colors, shapes, and sizes. Passersby admire the colorful installations especially at night when they are lit.

The Script Returns To Manila at the Smart Araneta Coliseum

The Script returns to Manila as part of their #3 World Tour on March 31, 2013 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The past four years have seen The Script become one of the biggest, best-loved bands in the world. The trio, Danny O’Donoghue, Mark Sheehan and Glen Power, have so far sold four million albums and a staggering nine million singles.

UP College of Music Presents Kalabit ng Kalabit

The guitar faculty of the Department of Strings and Chamber Music, UP College of Music, will present an evening of solo and chamber guitar masterpieces in a concert titled “Kalabit ng Kalabit.”

In the concert are the four guitar teachers of the College such as Lester Demetillo, Jose Valdez, Nathan Manimtim, and Solaiman Jamisolamin. They will interpret original works by Dyens (Côté Sud), Kleynjans (Sonate “Oceano Nox”), York (Bantu, Quiccan) as well as transcription of works by J.S. Bach (Sonate BWV 1031) Ravel (Pavane), and Dvorak (Slavonic Dance).

Lester Demetillo and José Valdez are icons in the art of classical guitar playing in the country, while Nathan Manimtim and Solaiman Jamisolamin are young guitar teachers of the College. Nathan Manimtim recently received his master’s degree in music from Illinois State University.

Admission ticket to the March 7 concert is Php 200. Students with valid IDs are entitled to 50 percent discount and senior citizens, 20%.

A New Pinoy Rock Musical - Songs of Sugarfree
