The
Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas is now accepting entries for the BSP Tanaw:
Art Competition 2012. The competition is open to professional and
non-professional artists who are Filipino citizens and are prize winners
in national competitions and has participated in international
expositions and art fairs.
Deadline for submission of entries is on Thursday, 29 November 2012 at the BSP Main Office and all regional offices and branches nationwide. Winners will be announced in May 2013. There will be an exhibition of the top three winners and the finalists at the Metropolitan Museum of Manila from May to August 2013. Prizes will be awarded during the opening of the exhibit.
The biennial nationwide competition started in 2010 and aims to support the development of Philippine contemporary art and encourage artists to strive for a higher level of artistic excellence. The BSP, the prime financial institution of the country, is a known patron of the arts and has in its collection impressive artwork ranging from the 18th century to the present era. Through the competition, the BSP intends to raise public awareness and appreciation of art and to recognize contemporary artists.
