U.P. Singing Ambassadors Homecoming Concert

The UPSA is presenting a Homecoming Concert dubbed as "Isang Pasasalamat" - a presentation of some of the group’s competition songs and a selection of heart-warming familiar music.
The 8th European Tour of the University of the Philippines Singing Ambassadors (UPSA) this year ended with another bunch of harvests which Filipinos here and abroad would truly be proud of:
  • standing ovations in all of its concerts and performances
  • hearts touched in outreach performances for several maison de retraite (homes for the aged) and institutions for special and gifted children
  • appreciation of Philippine culture and performance of Filipino traditional music through interactive workshops with local choirs
  • showcase of original contemporary choral works by Filipino composers - NILO ALCALA II (Arimaonga), JOHN AUGUST PAMINTUAN (Septem Peccata) and EUDENICE PALARUAN (Pundayaw Babel) among others, in the international stage.
  • successful goodwill concerts for the Philippine Embassies in BELGIUM, HUNGARY AND FRANCE, the Philippine Delegation to UNESCO included
  • guest attendance in the 98th Anniversary Celebration of the Iglesia Ni Cristo in Brussels, BELGIUM and a widely advertised and appreciated performance for President JOACHIM GAUCK of the Federal Republic of GERMANY and more.

This is not to forget their two (2) first prizes and one (1) second prize in the prestigious Concorso Polifonico Internazionale Guido d' Arezzo in Arezzo, ITALY and a conductor's award for founder and choirmaster ED MANGUIAT for Excellent Conducting Performance and a third prize (tie with a choir from the USA) in the most difficult Bela Bartok International Choir Competition and Folklore Festival in Debrecen, HUNGARY.

With another feather in its cap, the U.P. Singing Ambassadors continues 'ambassadoring' through music, fulfilling their objectives since they started 32 years ago with the help of past and new sponsors like Ms. Imelda O. Cojuangco, P.J. Lhuillier Foundation and Amb. Philippe Lhuillier, San Miguel Corporation and Mr. Ramon Ang, the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), SGV & Co. and Mr. Washinton SyCip, Global Gateway Logistics City and Mr. Dennis Wright, Asia United Bank, Ms. Doris Magsaysay-Ho, Associated Marine Officers and Seamen’s Union of the Philippines (AMOSUP), Mr. Mon Abad, Sec. Benny Laguesma, JETBEST and Mr. Joselito Tapay, Mr. Frank Tansengco, the Offices of the U.P. President and the U.P. Diliman Chancellor and others.

As a token of gratitude to all the people and institutions who continuously believe in their worthwhile endeavors of being true ambassadors of music for our country and the State University all these years, the UPSA is presenting a Homecoming Concert dubbed as 'ISANG PASASALAMAT'- a presentation of some of the group’s competition songs and a selection of heart-warming familiar music.
