“Rama
Hari,” the hit pop ballet musical based on the Indian epic Ramayana, is
returning to the CCP stage this November, with a powerhouse cast of the
country's best singers and dancers.
This
year's staging of “Rama Hari” will star Christian Bautista and Karylle
in the lead roles Rama and Sita, backed by an equally powerhouse cast of
the country's leading theater actors and singers: Robert Seña as the
demon Ravana, OJ Mariano (alternating as Rama), Kalila Aguilos
(alternating as Sita), Christian Rey Marbella, Noel Rayos, Lani Ligot,
Amparo Sietereales, and Brezhnev Larlar.
THE Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) through its Intertextual Division celebrates the 25th anniversary
of its literary journal by launching Ani 37, the Cleansing and Renewal
issue, on November 29, 2012 at the CCP Promenade at five in the
afternoon. Ani 37 contains 97 works of prose and poetry submitted by 66
authors written in English, Filipino and different Philippine languages,
representing Aklanon, Bikol, Chabacano, Ilokano, Iluko, Kankanaey, and
Pangasinan.

The
Cultural Center of the Philippines opens its doors to theater artists,
practitioners and enthusiasts for the 4th National Theater Festival
(NTF) from November 8 to 18, 2012. Dubbed as “Ika-Apat na Tagpo, Ang
Bagong Yugto: The New Act”, this year's NTF offers performances, a
conference, exhibits and film screenings. The
NTF started in 1992 and 2012 marks the 20th anniversary of the
festival. This year's edition showcases the ever-growing achievements of
Philippine theater.

more light on and draw lessons from this little known event in

A grand celebration and gathering of
indigenous Filipino cultures will be mounted by the National Commission

Jr., in celebration of National Indigenous Peoples’ Month.

partnership with PETA, present DUO, a performance by French juggler
Jérôme Thomas and French Accordionist Jean-François Baëz, on October 25.
In
honor of the Philippines’ second saint, Eastwood Mall proudly hosts the
Pedro Calungsod Art Exhibit on October 22 - 24 at the Eastwood Mall
Atrium. The
opening of the exhibit comes at the heels of Calungsod’s canonization,
which is scheduled on October 21. The exhibit collects over 60 paintings
and artwork from highly skilled Angono artists, who have interpreted
Calungsod’s likeness and showed him doing his missionary work in the
Marianas Islands.

The 2012 National Theater Festival (NTF) dubbed as “Ika-apat na
Tagpo, Ikalawang Yugto” is the 4rth since 1992. It has always been
implemented with various component including a conference. This year,
the conference will focus on the premise that theater is part of the
dynamic and growing creative industry in the Philippines.

the Ifugao Dance, an exhibition by artist Wahoo Guerrero opening on

Dulaang Kalay and
Word of Mouth Theater Philippines proudly present the gala premiere of
‘The Woman in Black’ on October 19 and 20 at Teatrino.
Lauded
as “one of the best horror stories you will ever see on the stage”,
‘The Woman in Black’ is based on Susan Hill’s highly regarded 1983 novel
of the same name. In 1989, ITV produced a made-for-television film
adaptation of the novel. Directed by Herbert Wise, the film earned four
BAFTA awards: Best Design, Best Film Sound, Best Make-Up and Best
Original Television Music.
In 1565, a trade route between the Spanish East Indies (the Philippines)
and New Spain (Mexico) started with the discovery of the ocean passage
by Andres de Urdaneta.
The trade route
became the passage way of what would later be known as the Galleon
Trade. The Manila Galleon, one of the most important trading systems at
that time, was a great source of income for the colonies (Philippines
and Mexico) and Spain. It facilitated the transfer of goods among Europe
and Asian and Latin American colonies. In addition to the goods, it
facilitated the exchange of peoples and their ideas, customs and
lifestyle among the participating economies.
After the successful run of its stage play, “Walang Kukurap”,
Tanghalang Pilipino (TP) pays tribute to the stage artists of
yesteryears through its 3rd theater season offering entitled
“Stageshow”, a grand musical play slated on October 10-21, 2012, 3pm and
8pm, at the Cultural Center of the Philippines’ Tanghalang Aurelio
Tolentino (CCP Little Theater) .
The
University of the Philippines Madrigal Singers was organized in 1963 by
National Artist Professor Andrea O. Veneracion. The group is composed
of students, faculty and alumni from the different colleges of the
University of the Philippines (UP). The choir is one of the world’s most
awarded, having consistently won all the top prizes in most of the
world’s prestigious choral competitions: Arezzo and Gorizia in Italy,
Marktoberdorf in Germany, Spittal in Austria, Neuchatel in Switzerland,
Tours in France, Varna in Bulgaria, Debrecen in Hungary, Cantonigros,
Tolosa and Torrevieja in Spain. They hold the distinction of being the
first choir in the world to win the European Grand Prix for Choral
Singing twice (1997 and 2007).
THE Cultural
Center of the Philippines (CCP), together with its officers, staff and
members of the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra surprised the
pre-departure crowd at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA)
Terminal 3 with a “flashmob” performance on October 3, 2012. The
performance was held in celebration of the CCP’s 43rd anniversary.
Through this “random act of culture”, the CCP brings performance out of
its Roxas Boulevard venue to a public space to exemplify its vision of
“making art matter to the life of every Filipino.” The said project is

Giuseppe
Andaloro is a winner of several international competitions including
the Hong Kong International Piano Competition in 2011; the Bolzano
Ferruccio Busoni Competition (Italy) in 2005; the London World Piano
Competition (UK) in 2002, and other prestigious international
competitions in Asia and Europe.
He has performed with
internationally acclaimed orchestras and chamber groups, including
London Mozart Players, London Philharmonic Orchestra, NHK Symphony
Tokyo, Philharmonische Camerata Berlin, Hong Kong Philharmonic
Orchestra, Singapore Symphony Orchestra, the LCO Chamber Group, Czech
Philharmonic orchestra, Symphonic Orchestra National of Porto, Orchestra
Sinfonica del Teatro Massimo di Palermo, and Orchestra Sinfonica del
Teatro San Carlo di Napoli. Among the famous conductors that he has
worked with include Vladimir Ashkenazy, Gianandrea Noseda, Tomasz Bugaj,
Alberto Martini, and many others.
An active chamber musician,
he has collaborated in duos and ensembles with various distinguished
artists, including Sarah Chang, Giovanni Sollima and Sergej Krylov. He
has an ongoing collaboration with the Italian cellist-composer Giovanni
Sollima. His performances have been broadcast in several countries and
he has a number of recordings to his credit. Giuseppe Andaloro has
served on juries for international piano competitions, and given
international master-classes.
He is also active as a composer and conductor.
