It's More Fun In The Philippines "I Love Manila" Concert @ the Music Museum

Count on the wacky, outrageous and compelling antics of Jon Santos, The Company and Bo Cerrudo as they come up with their own take on the catchy tourism slogan, ‘It’s More Fun In the Philippines,’ via a concert series dubbed “I Love Manila” (Kasi Nga, It's More Fun In The Philippines), to be staged at the Music Museum on September 5 and 19, October 3, 10, 17 and 24, and November 7, 14, 21 and 28.

It’s three times the laughter and excitement as Jon and company’s musical/comedy revue doubles as a travelogue of sorts as well, highlighting Manila’s historic landmarks and scenic destinations that continue to draw tourists from across the globe.

The show’s concept was a collaborative effort between Jon, Bo and The Company - the thematic backbone of which was hatched as early as last year.

Undoubtedly, the tourism slogan gave the perfect spark, triggering the group’s creative frenzy. To date, the catchphrase has generated tremendous mileage in the various social media, via spoofs and humorous quips that unleash the PInoy’s funny streak. For Jon and company, it’s the perfect catalyst for an entertainment spectacle that aptly showcases the unique Pinoy psyche.

As Jon explains, “The show is basically a love letter to Manila that attempts to relive and rediscover the city’s glory and splendor by way of song, dance, humor, and a montage of historic and nostalgic visuals. It’s low-brow meets high-brow, utilizing contratextual concepts.”

“Aside from highlighting the pomp and pageantry of the city’s scenic spots, the show also doubles as a smorgasbord of PInoy pop culture, with particular references to music, fashion, cinema, food, sports and even politics - all interwoven through a tapestry of comic, musical and visual vignettes,” adds Bo Cerrudo, who’s also part of the forthcoming Resorts World musical, ‘The King and I,’ where he alternates with Leo Valdez in playing the King.

Fresh on the heels of their highly-successful ‘Rom-Com’ show, Jon and The Company continue to ‘level up’ on their ‘artistic partnership,’ this time with Bo adding even more sizzle to their fiery performances.

Kindred spirits that resonate with their common love for music, wit and irreverence, Jon, Bo and The Company take great pride in an enduring friendship tempered by trust, respect and artistic integrity.

Onstage, when they’re all on a roll and having fun, the performers act as one, their improvised spiels and dialogues showcasing their remarkable timing and stage presence - never afraid to go out on a limb, yet always bringing out the best in each other.

It’s not surprising that “I Love Manila” earned the nod of the Department of Tourism for its humble role in spreading the good news about the country’s premier capital, rekindling our rich cultural heritage, and best of all, uplifting the indomitable Pinoy spirit that continues to inspire and carry us through the best and worst of times.
