Ely Buendia Live at the Ayala Malls

No other songwriter/musician deserves to be dubbed with "legendary" status as Ely Buendia, former de facto leader of the Eraserheads, and current PUPIL / OKTAVES frontman and guitarist.

Many will agree that Buendia's uncanny ability to produce simple, artistic and undeniably Filipino-flavored anthems are the main reasons why his songs literally rejuvenated Pinoy Rock in the 90s, defined an entire generation, and influenced even more batches of musicians (who are currently stars in their own right...) to write original music. Name any current pop/rock artist or band on top of the local charts, and you’ll still hear traces of Buendia’s comic wit, simplistic views on everyday life and adventurous style and swagger in incorporating various musical styles to the formula.

Indeed, Buendia is a rarity, and his music, an experience we are all privileged to continually hear live and in the flesh these days: when attention spans and the wayward use of technology has somehow diluted the criteria for musical masterpieces.

And leave it to Buendia to keep thinking on a grander scale, as fans of his past and present work will surely be delighted for his upcoming live project, dubbed: Ely Buendia - Live at the Ayala Malls.

To be held on August 17 at the Glorietta Activity Center at 6:30 pm, August 24, 7:00 pm at the TriNoma Activity Center, and at Market! Market! on September 29 at 6:00 pm

Buendia teams up with a big band ? complete with a string, horn and vocal section - for limited performances of his best pieces in the grandest fashion possible. Old fans and new will be delighted to hear classics from the Eraserheads’ extensive catalogue of hits, singles from his highly experimental and critically acclaimed solo outing Wanted: Bedspacer (which, according to his peers, was way ahead of its time...) and even material from his most recent collaborative smash disc In Love & War, which he had completed with the late, great Master Rapper Francis Magalona. Music fans and die-hards will surely witness and experience these songs as the masterpieces they are, as it doesn’t get any better than this.
