Ciudad A Local Indie Rock Artist

Not a lot of bands, whether Filipino or foreign, remain intact and prolific for more than a decade. Local indie rock outfit, Ciudad, is an exception.

Entering their 18th year as a group, they will be releasing their fifth album, “Bring Your Friends,” a much-anticipated record for 2012, following the release of the well-received, “Bring Your Friends,” in 2008. “A different kind of instrumentation, we went outside our specific roles,” front man Mikey Amistoso shared, when asked what listeners can expect from the new record.

Their single, “There’s a Lonely Road to Sunday Night,” that was released online a few weeks ago, earned rave reviews from netizens and even won the band new fans.

Attraction! Reaction! will be hosting the album launch on Saturday, July 7, at Route 196 bar in Katipunan. Also playing are The Strangeness, Ang Bandang Shirley and Your Imaginary Friends. There is a P150 gate fee, which comes with a free drink. Ciudad will also be selling the new albums, along with limited edition band merchandise.

About the band:
Ciudad is composed of Mikey Amistoso (on vocals and bass), Mitch Singson (on drums) and Justin Sunico (on guitars and vocals). Considered indie rock stalwarts in the local band scene, the trio formed in 1994, when they were barely into their teens, as a result of a school project. After four critically-acclaimed albums - Hello! How Are You, Mico the Happy Bear?, Is That Ciudad, Yes Son It’s Me, It’s Like a Magic and Bring Your Friends - the band shows no sign of waning as they set to release their latest endeavor for this year.
