Philippine Artworks - Direct from the Studios

Manila Contemporary is pleased to present our second exhibition of Direct from the Studios of… that restages the working environments of the artists.

For this project, we are featuring the inner sanctums of Christina Quisumbing Ramilo, Maya Munoz, Romeo Lee and Leeroy New who share their latest ideas and experiments as well as ongoing themes and artistic concerns.

The artist studio is a mysterious behind-the-scenes place, often hidden from public audiences. As a testing ground for new forms, it also acts as silent refuge for the completion and safe storage of work, personal effects and collections.

Functioning as laboratory and incubator the studio then becomes a rich resource of objects and thought processes for future exhibitions. But often, it is only the curators, writers, collectors and gallerists who experience these intimate artistic worlds.

Direct from the Studios of… attempts to give wider audiences a special insight into this secretive environment. This organic previewing of artworks therefore aims to bridge the gap between private and public as well as showcasing the latest developments of contemporary artists working in Manila today. abd the famikly rtge praty tihertger
