A Fundraising Exhibit and Sale of Contemporary Fine Prints @ the CCP

The Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), in cooperation with the Philippine Association of Printmakers (PAP), will hold ART OVER EASY, a fundraising exhibit, and sale of contemporary fine prints for the benefit of the CCP’s Audience Development and Arts Education programs on April 19 to May 3, 2012,

Prints by members of the PAP and other local printmakers will be on exhibit and on sale. Among the participating artists are National Artist Arturo Luz, Virgilio “Pandy” Aviado, Romulo Olazo, Mario Parial, Fil Delacruz, Raul Isidro, Ambie Abano, Benjie Torrado-Cabrera, Noel El Farol, Andres Barrioquinto, Christina Quisumbing and Joey Cobcobo.

Art Over Easy will help support the CCP’s various arts education and audience development programs. These programs include the subsidizing tickets for underserved communities, teacher training, development of online resources, and other activities.

The CCP as our country’s national performing arts center welcomes more than 300,000 visitors, presents more than 10,000 artists in 700 performances, reaches 200,000 audiences through its outreach performances, and thousands more through radio and television programs. While the CCP receives government funding, it is continually challenged by the rising cost of production and expenses related to the expansion of programs, especially in the area of arts education and audience development.

The fundraising exhibit will start off with a free lecture on the topic “Collecting Prints and Works on Paper” on April 19, 4 PM at the CCP Multi-purpose Hall to be followed by the opening of the fundraising exhibit at 6 PM at the Pasilyo Guillermo Tolentino (3F Hallway Gallery).

Founded by Manuel Rodriquez Sr. more than forty years ago, the PAP continues its mission of teaching printmaking to promote the art form. It has since become the prime mover of graphic arts in the country.
