Forum-Performance at the CCP in Celebration of the National Women's Month

In celebration of the 2012 National Women's Month, the Cultural Center of the Philippines through its Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Point, is holding a forum-performance entitled “Kababaihan at Kabayanihan” on March 15, 2012, 3:00 p.m. at the CCP Tanghalang Huseng Batute (Studio Theater).
The forum will tackle the uniqueness, strength, courage and nobility of womanhood and how these traits contributed in improving lives and the society as a whole. The event will be attended by CCP employees and officials, some students as well as eminent artists and arts & culture specialists. The event will be complemented with special performances by renowned women artists.

A digital-photo contest , which is opened for CCP employees and artists of CCP resident companies, will also be held as part of the celebration. Billed as "Kababaihan at Kabayanihan, Kuha Mo?", the contest is aimed at encouraging the CCP community in advocating women's rights and issues through creative expressions. All official entries will be exhibited at the hallway of the CCP Upper basement from March 15 to April 30, 2012.

The CCP Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Point is an advocacy tasked with facilitating and monitoring the implementation of gender mainstreaming advocated by the Philippine government. It is concerned with women as well as with the social construction of gender and the assignment of specific roles, responsibilities and expectations to women and men. The CCP GAD Focal Point Committee members include Chinggay-Jasareno-Bernardo (Chairperson), Gemma Marco, Josie Tabanera, Nikki Torres and Marivic Santos.
Women make a big part of our life. They really deserve to be recognized and commended for their contributions in our community. My hands are all up for them.  Congratulations and Mabuhay! Truly women's heroism will always be remembered.
