BALLET PHILIPPINES' "THE SLEEPING BEAUTY"

The current staging, by Director Monica Mason in conjunction with Christopher Newton for the Company’s 75th Anniversary in 2006, pays homage to that famous 1946 production. With its huge cast, fairytale settings and glorious Tchaikovsky score The Sleeping Beauty remains the very essence of classical grandeur. The power of true love’s kiss in Ballet Philippines’ holiday offering. Aurora’s story of enchantment and re-awakening is brought to life in a new production envisioned for today’s audience. Gala performances are made more special with the Manila Symphony Orchestra performing the timeless Tchaikovsky score. Hong Kong Ballet’s former principal dancer, Nobuo Fujino, is in talks with Ballet Philippines to partner our very own ballerinas. There will be a special Children’s Matinee version designed for students.

Artists, crafts people, and artisans sell handmade items ranging from art prints, objects, accessories, decor, toys and other collectibles. 'Slow cooked' foods can also be bought in this daily market situated in the shady lane behind the Cultural Center of the Philippines. Pets are allowed in this environmentally friendly art and crafts fair.
