The Philbanda Wind Orchestra will hold its inaugural concert entitled “Da Music Men: Philbanda Wind Orchestra” at the Cultural Center of the Philippines’ Tanghalang Aurelio Tolentino (Little Theater) on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at 8PM. The Philbanda Wind Orchestra is composed of band members and conductors of the newly-formed Philippine Band Association or Philbanda for short, headed by its conductor and president Herminigildo Ranera.

As president and prime mover of Philbanda, Herminigildo Ranera brings with him his expertise in band conducting, as well as his experience as a participant of the 4th Asian Band Festival and Competition in Bangkok, Thailand and other band festivals.

The program of Philbanda is as follows: Compello’s El Palomino Noble March, O’Loughlin’s Winds along the Whippany, David’s Concertino, Op. 12, de Haan’s Concerto D’Amore, Huckeby’s Ascentium, Gould’s Jericho Rhapsody, Barnes’ Fantasy Variations on the theme of Paganini, Pryer’s Thoughts of Love, Willson’s 76 Trombones, Ranera’s Mga Tugtuging Velarde, Nelhybel’s Symphonic Movement and Disney’s Fantillusion arr. by Hoshide. Soloists of the concert are bassoonist Adolfo Mendoza and trombonist Cornelio Ramos, both members of the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra.
