Filipino-American pianist Aileen Chanco will be the special feature of the CCP radio program "Culture Carousel" aired on 98.7 DZFE-FM The Master's Touch on May 7, 2011 at 12 noon to 1:00 PM. The show will feature Chanco's recordings of Kreisleriana Op. 16 by Robert Schumann and Ballade No. 4, Op. 52 in F Minor by Frederic Chopin. Chanco performed at the CCP in 2003 with the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra. Her performance was hailed as a tremendous success and critics described her as an astonishing pianist.
On May 14, the show will play the music of the Tel Aviv Trio as they perform Variations on a Hebrew Melody by Paul Ben-Haim and Trio in C Major for piano, violin and cello by Joseph Haydn. The Tel Aviv trio is an award winning ensemble that has performed at the CCP.
On May 21, Culture Carousel offers the music of the Mandaluyong Children's Chorus as they sing spiritual and folk songs and the Zurich Boys Choir in a program of traditional Swiss songs.
Culture Carousel is hosted by Irene Obligacion-Rada, director of the CCP's Public Relations and Linkages Division. It is a production of the CCP in cooperation with 98.7 DZFE-FM The Master's Touch. Aired from 12:00NN-1:00PM on Saturdays, it features music of various Filipino artists and foreign artists who have performed or are scheduled to perform at the CCP; past CCP musical performances; and interviews with artists.
