Hubo Productions’ Ganap na Babae will have its free special screening on March 31, 2011 (Thursday) at the Cultural Center of the Philippines’ Manuel Conde (Dream Theater) at 2:00 p.m.

Ganap na Babae is a film for women made by women directors: Rica Arevalo, Ellen Ramos and Sarah Roxas. Starring a powerhouse cast led by the legendary Miss Boots Anson-Roa, Cannes’ Most Beautiful Actress Mercedes Cabral, Urian’s Best Supporting Actress Sue Prado and newcomer Jam Pérez. It was the opening film during last year’s Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival and Competition.

Cabral plays a prostitute who bares her soul as a mother. Prado is a devoted sister who prefers to stay in her drought-ridden barrio to take care of the family. Anson-Roa plays a widow who falls in love with a younger man.

Three stories are interwoven to see the plight of Filipino women from the sensitive eyes of three contemporary women directors. Hubo Productions support the different voices of women and aims to expose the complexity of the individual through Ganap na Babae.

The special film screening is part of the CCP 2011 Women’s Month Celebration and is spearheaded by the CCP Gender and Development Focal Point Committee headed by Ms. Chinggay Bernardo, with members Marivic Santos, Nikki Garde-Torres, Gemma Marco and Josie Tabanera.

The screening is on a first-come-first served basis. For more information about Ganap na Babae, please visit or call the CCP Outreach Division at 8321125 loc. 1708 or the CCP Public Relations Office at local 1114-1117.
