ST. ANNE THEATER AND DANCE COMPANY (SATDC) was established on January 11, 1986, founded by Bros. Benjamin Poblete and Domingo Yumping. It is one of the major youth oriented organization of the Archdiocesan Shrine of St. Anne that wishes to promote religiosity and culture as catalyst for values formation and moral reformation through the performing arts as a way of humble service to the community of our patroness, St. Anne. One of the major performances of the group was the TAGUIG: MUNTING BAYAN SA TABI NG LAWA, Manila Film Center, 20 January 1989.

SATDC’s founding officers were Hon Vice Mayor George Elias, Rene and Cely+ Enriquez, Glory Flores, Leonardo Dionisio, Precy Mariano, Lita Gregorio, Norie Angeles, Narciso Dionisio+, Henry Manalili and Ayie Yumping-Mermal.

Under the rigid training of the late National Artist, Ramon Obusan+, the group has performed at the Cultural Center of the Philippines, Folk Arts Theater, Manila Film Center, Rizal Theater, Nayong Pilipino, Ultra Amphitheater, San Carlos Seminary, University of San Carlos (Cebu City), Fort Santiago, among others. From 1986 to 1992, SATDC has also been an official participant to the annual Pang-alay Festival at the Cultural Center of the Philippines along with the country’s premier dance companies like the Ramon Obusan Folkloric group, Bayanihan Philippine Folk Dance Company, Barangay Dance Troup and more. Its members also appeared in the PTV 4’s “For Arts Sake” and the short film, “Margarita”.

SATDC was also recognized as Taguig’s Best Cultural Group in line with the commemoration of Taguig’s founding day in 1995, under the administration of Mayor Ricardo Papa.

Among SATDC’s productions were Taguig: Munting Bayan sa Tabi ng Lawa (1989), Murder at the Cathedral, Oyayi, Soledad, Ama Atbp, Tagpi-Tagping Tupa ng Diyos, and special projects such as “Panunuluyan” from 1986 to 1992 and the annual performance of “Pandanggo sa Ilaw” in line with the Easter Sunday celebration of the parish.

In October 2008, SATDC’s founders and administrative staff launched a massive recruitment and training of a new batch of artists, who possess the time, talent and the youthful energy to continue the group’s humble passion to serve the parish through the arts. Since last year, the new SATDC has mounted two productions: “Panunuluyan, Isang Paskong Pilipino” in December 2008 and “Hope for the Flowers, The Musical” in May and September 2009. They have also performed for Dominican Laity’s Lenten presentation, “Daan ng Dalamhati”, the annual “Pandanggo sa Ilaw” and the “Sta. Anang Banak River Festival”. SATDC is also currently preparing for its major dance production, “Vamos A Belen” (Tayo na sa Belen) slated in December 2009.

Now, after two decades of service to the community, St. Anne Theater and Dance Company continues with its concerted effort of producing highly artistic productions that will promote our rich culture and heritage, and will provide a venue for the development of our youth’s creative energies and social awareness for the rest of the world to marvel at about who and what we are, Filipinos.
