The Cultural Center of the Philippines, in cooperation with the UST Symphony Orchestra, will present the “27th Sampung Mga Daliri atbp.” at the Cultural Center of the Philippines Main Theater on Sunday, February 27, 2011 at 7:00 pm.

An annual event of the UST Conservatory of Music, and in conjunction with the University’s Quadricentennial celebration, this uniquely special presentation features ten grand pianos in performance, mostly in tandem with the other performing groups of the Conservatory. These groups include the Symphony Orchestra, Symphony Band, Jazz Band, Rondalla, Guitar Ensemble, E-mundo Ethnic Ensemble, Vocal Ensemble, and the choruses. The various ten-piano groups consist of faculty, alumni and students of the Conservatory.

Conducting the different ensembles are Herminigildo Ranera, Renato Lucas, Arnel Feliciano, Ruben Reyes, Michael Jacinto, Ricardo Calubayan, and Teresa Montes. The concert repertoire includes classical favorites - Egmont Overture by Ludwig van Beethoven, Carnival of the Animals by Camille Saint-Saens, Carmen Fantasy by Georges Bizet, Die Fledermaus by Johann Strauss Jr., Malaguena/Andalucia by Ernesto Lecuona; Philippine melodies – Pandangguhan arranged by Augusto Espino, Kay Ganda ng Ating Musika by Ryan Cayabyab, Kundiman medley arranged by Raul Sunico, and popular hits from the 50’s and 60’s arranged by Emi Munji. Lending special interest is the inclusion of the UST Quadricentennial song Ako’y Tomasino by Gerry de Leon, as well as the grand finale with the ten piano group, large chorus, and orchestra from Aida of Giuseppe Verdi.

Tickets are available at the CCP Box Office (832-1125), UST Conservatory of Music office (731-4022), and Ticketworld outlets.
