(Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra)
Olivier Ochanine, conductor
Steve Dibner, bassoon
For the third concert of the PPO's 28th Season, San Francisco Symphony bassoonist Steve Andre Dibner joins Maestro Ochanine and the orchestra in two fantastic works for the bassoon, Weber's Concerto and Elgar's Elegy. Concert-goers are in for an astounding performance from Dibner, who mesmerizes with his singing tone and extreme agility on the bassoon. Also on the programme is the beautiful work of 25-year-old Richard Strauss entitled Tod und Verklaerung, in which is depicted a dying artist's reminiscence of his life.
